City of New Hampton Asks for Cooperation During Snow Emergency

With over a foot of snow in Thursday (02.19) night into Friday (02.20) morning in New Hampton, the City has enacted a Snow Emergency.
The City requests that there be no driving on streets until the streets are cleared, with no parking on any city street.
Officials also urge motorists to steer clear of snowplows to allow City street crews room to complete their work.
City Clerk Karen Clemens says, “Your cooperation is greatly appreciated.”
As for snow removal:
It is the property owner’s responsibility to remove snow, ice, or accumulations within 48 hours of the snowfall from sidewalks. When removing the accumulations it is unlawful to place them onto the street or alley, except in the Business District. If the accumulations are not cleared the City may do so and assess the costs against the property owner.
To avoid a $25 parking fine do not park on City streets between the hours of 6:00 p.m. on the day of said snow fall until 7:00 a.m. the following day or until the streets have been completely plowed from curb to curb.
