Charles City Engineer Fallis to Retire (Finally) This Week

A retirement over three years in the making will finally come to a reality this week.
According to Charles City Mayor Dean Andrews, City Engineer John Fallis began considering retirement in December 2022, which led to the hiring of Brian Sullivan to take on those duties….eventually. Before Sullivan could officially sign off on projects, he required two years of apprenticeship mentoring.
However, Sullivan resigned in December of 2024 and Fallis agreed to stay on part-time. And, after 14 years of service with the City, his retirement will actually happen this week.
City Clerk Brittney Lentz announced during last week’s City Council meeting, that, in light of that reality, a public reception for Fallis has been set.
You can find more details on the reception for Fallis on The City of Charles City Facebook page.
