United Way Launches “United We Can” Food Drive Across North Iowa

MASON CITY, IA — The United Way of North Central Iowa is calling on residents, businesses, and community groups to come together for the “United We Can” Food Drive, running April 27 through May 7.

The regional effort aims to restock shelves at local food banks and pantries across North Iowa, helping families facing food insecurity.

“Together, we will help families and the community by filling up the shelves of our local food banks and pantries,” organizers said.

How It Works

Participants are encouraged to collect nonperishable food items and monetary donations at their homes or workplaces during the 11-day drive.

On May 8, organizers ask participants to total the pounds of food and dollars raised and report their results to United Way. Donations can then be delivered to local food banks or coordinated with United Way for drop-off.

Local Impact

The food drive supports multiple food banks and pantries across the region, including locations in Cerro Gordo, Hancock, Floyd, Mitchell, Worth, Winnebago, Franklin, and Kossuth counties.

Local partners include organizations such as Hawkeye Harvest Food Bank in Mason City, Salvation Army, Clear Lake/Ventura Food Pantry, and several county-based food pantries and community centers.

Donation Locations

Food donations can be dropped off at participating food banks throughout the region or at the United Way of North Central Iowa office, located at 520 S. Pierce Ave., Suite 204, in Mason City.

Community Call to Action

United Way officials say the drive is about more than just food — it’s about community collaboration.

“Let’s see what we can do together,” the campaign message states, encouraging individuals and organizations to take part.
