Northeast Iowa Man Sentenced to Decade in Federal Prison for Receiving Child Porn

A northeast Iowa man who received child pornography has been sentenced to a decade in federal prison.
Information at sentencing showed that between October 2020 and October 2022, 38-year-old Robert Thiemann of Evansdale downloaded visual depictions of child pornography. In October 2022, the FBI received a tip Thiemann had uploaded an image of child pornography to an “adult chat” website.
Following the tip, FBI agents searched Thiemann’s home in Evansdale and seized an iPhone with images and videos of child pornography, including of prepubescent minors. Thiemann also had depictions of child pornography involving sadistic and masochistic conduct.
In November 2025, Thiemann pleaded guilty to one count of receiving child pornography. Last week (04.07), he was sentenced by U.S. District Court Chief Judge C.J. Williams to 120 months in federal prison. He was also ordered to make $18,000 in restitution to six victims and must serve a five-year term of supervised release after prison. There is no parole in the federal system.
Thiemann is being held in the United States Marshal’s custody until he can be transported to a federal prison.
The case was investigated by the FBI with assistance from the Evansdale Police Department.
