Water Department to Begin Hydrant Flushing in Charles City Monday (04.27)

The Charles City Water Department will begin flushing the water distribution system throughout the city beginning on Monday (04.27). 

Water Superintendent Cory Spieker says crews will begin working their way from the Water Treatment Plant and ending at Gar Drive. This process helps to remove any deposits that may be built up on the interior walls of the water mains, and helps ensure that the water quality is maintained throughout the system. 

Spieker advises that water users may experience fluctuations in pressure and or discoloration of their water during flushing. If you experience discoloration, run your cold water tap until it clears.
