Charles City Chamber Leadership Foster Child Backpack Drive Ends Thursday (04.30)

An effort to help foster children transitioning to a new home is in its final days.
The Foster Child Backpack Drive, now through this Thursday, is a service project by the leadership class of the Charles City Chamber of Commerce. The group’s Hannah Chambers says their goal is to fill 100 backpacks so each child will have items of their own during the transition, and can take with them wherever they go.
Co-coordinator Aubrey Zajic says donations can be dropped off First Security Bank, First Citizens Bank, The Bridge Church and the Chamber office. There’s also an online option.
Chambers adds there’s a secondary goal for the Foster Child Backpack Drive.
The drive continues through the end of April and bags will be packed in May.
For monetary donations, checks can be made out to the Chamber, with “Foster Kit Project” in the memo. Checks can be sent in or dropped off at any donation location.
