Nashua-Plainfield, Tripoli School Boards to Meet Thursday (04.30) to Continue Shared Superintendent Hiring Process

A pair of northeast Iowa school boards will meet in a special joint work session Thursday (04.30) night as they continue the process of hiring their next shared superintendent.
On April 10th, current Nashua-Plainfield Superintendent Jay Marley, also shared superintendent with Tripoli since July 1, 2024, announced his resignation, effective at the end of the current school year on June 30th.
Marley says he “verbally accepted my dream opportunity” by returning home to his wife’s roots as the next superintendent of the Clayton Ridge School District, based in Guttenberg.
Marley’s post also noted that both Nashua-Plainfield and Tripoli officials were in strong agreement on continuing their partnership, with the next superintendent to start July 1st.
The districts take their next step Thursday night when both school boards meet in Tripoli to review applications for the superintendent position. The work session starts at 6 pm, with reviews conducted in closed session.
The school boards are working through the hiring process with EDK Consulting, LLC, led by Ed Klamforth, former superintendent for Waverly-Shell Rock Schools. Klamforth says eight applications were received for the post, with one dropping out after accepting another job.
Klamforth recently assisted Osage and Riceville school districts to hire Roland-Story Middle/High School Principal Andy McQuillen to replace outgoing shared Superintendent Barb Schwamman, Osage superintendent for the 11 years and shared with Riceville the last nine years.
In other recent superintendent moves, Rudd-Rockford-Marble Rock Secondary Principal Nick Johnson will add superintendent duties July 1st, taking over for Ken Kasper, who will depart to become the new superintendent for the Grinnell-Newburg School District.
