ESPN Reporter to Students: Trust Yourself, Find Your Passion to Guide Their Path Forward

A former top collegiate women’s tennis player, whose athletic career was sidelined by injury, addressed Charles City High School students earlier this week about pushing through obstacles to form your path forward.

Tory Zewacki Roy is now a reporter for ESPN.  She spoke to students in Comet Gym on Tuesday (04.28) about the challenges of becoming a sports journalist. She said trust in yourself is key to success in whatever you do.

Roy also encouraged students to find their passion along the way.

During a question and answer session, Roy was asked who her first famous athlete she interviewed.

Roy’s presentation was made possible by former Floyd County Supervisor Mark Kuhn, who owns the All-Iowa Lawn Tennis Club, south of Charles City. Roy was in town to do a special segment on the Club’s grass tennis courts for ESPN’s upcoming coverage of Wimbledon.
