Charles City Police Highlight School Safety, Opioid Awareness Efforts and Upcoming Bike Rodeo

Charles City Police Community Resource Officer Duane Ollendick joined Community Conversations to talk about the department’s growing role inside local schools, including a new agreement with the Charles City Community School District focused on student safety and visibility. Ollendick also discussed current issues facing students, including social media bullying, vaping concerns, and new opioid awareness education efforts being introduced countywide through grant-funded simulation activities. Plus, he shared details on the upcoming Bike Rodeo, National Night Out planning, and the department’s year-round prescription drug take-back program.
