Southbridge Theater in Mason City Reopens with Grand Opening Saturday (05.16)

The curtain is set to rise again at a newly renovated North Iowa theater.

Southbridge Theater in Mason City invites the public to celebrate the movie house’s grand reopening this Saturday (05.16) The theater is located on the Southbridge Mall.

There will be a ribbon cutting at 11:30 am, followed by special showings of the 1985 classic ‘Footloose’ at noon, 3 pm, 6 pm, and 9 pm.

The reopening pays tribute to the theater’s history, with ‘Footloose’ one of the first films shown when the theater originally opened as Cinema V on May 23, 1985.

Guests of all ages can enjoy the updated theater experience while revisiting the iconic film that helped launch the theater more than four decades ago. 

Mason City City Councilman Joshua Masson says, “This reopening is both a celebration of the theater’s future and a nod to its past. We’re excited to welcome the community back to the movies and relive a little bit of 1985 together.”

Concessions will be available, and movie tickets may be purchased at the door for $5 on Saturday.
