New Hampton’s Nuss 2A Individual Girls Golf State Champ

New Hampton’s Kirsten Nuss is the Class 2A individual state girls golf champion.

Nuss finished the two-day, two-round tournament Friday (05.29) at American Legion Golf Course in Marshalltown as the meet medalist, carding a three over par score, holding off runner-up Grace Lewis of Oelwein by three shots. Cresco-Crestwood’s Ainsley Teeling finished 12 shots behind Nuss in sixth place. 

Denver’s Lexie Benham was 14th and New Hampton’s Alivia Geerts was 19th.

In the 2A team standings, Roland-Story won the title by 23 shots over second place Grundy Center. New Hampton finished fourth, with Crestwood ninth.

In the Class 1A Girls State Golf Tournament in Boone, North Butler’s Zoey Thompson finished ninth individually, with South Winneshiek’s Claire Becker 10th and Maya Lensing 13th. Saint Ansgar’s Maci Meyer was 14th.

In the 1A team standings, South Winn was third, 17 shots behind state champion Easton Valley. Newman Catholic was seventh.
