Mayor Dean Andrews Discusses This Friday’s “Party in Another Park,” City Hall Progress & Community Projects

Charles City Mayor Dean Andrews joined us for Mayor Monday on Community Conversations to highlight this Friday’s “Party in Another Park” event at Sportsman’s Park. Organized with the Mayor’s Youth Council, the teen-focused event will feature inflatables, food trucks, mocktails, music from Canada Sound DJ Phil Knighten, games, pickleball, frisbee golf and more from 5 to 9 p.m. Friday evening. Mayor Andrews also shared updates on the new City Hall and Police Department project, a proposed ambulance service feasibility study, and the community mural project currently being painted near Central Park.

As a kid, he was always caught singing along to the radio — and while he’ll tell you he’s great at karaoke, let’s just say the audience’s ears often file a noise complaint. When he’s not busy butchering ‘80s power ballads, Chris enjoys starting overly ambitious home projects that rarely make it past the “great idea” stage. He lives in Charles City with his endlessly patient wife Vicki and their kids, Brynlee and Jaxon, who have already perfected the art of the eye‑roll every time Dad cracks another “dad joke.”
