Lions Field Pool in Charles City Could Re-Open By Wednesday (06.03)

The Lions Field Pool in Charles City will remain closed at least one more day due to needed repairs.

During Monday (06.01) night’s City Council meeting, City Administrator Tyler Trout explained the closure earlier in the day was brought on by a large piece of concrete that broke away from the pool bed.

Trout says the repairs are under warranty from JEO Consulting, the company the City worked with in making some $800,000 in upgrades to the pool prior to the 2025 summer season.

It’s not known if the warranty would reimburse the City for any lost revenue due to the pool closure.

The public is encouraged to monitor Lions Field Pool on Facebook for the latest update on when the pool will re-open.

Meanwhile, New Hampton Park-Rec is looking to avoid potential problems at the New Hampton Swimming Pool. They ask attendees with reusable water balloons to make sure they are collected when you are finished. The balloons have been getting sucked into the pool vacuum and pumps, creating a hazard for possible equipment breaks and pool closure.

The New Hampton Swimming Pool has also announced Heartland Days at the Pool, from noon to 5 PM on Friday, June 12th, with door prizes, a sidewalk chalk contest and walking tacos.
