Public’s Help Sought to Save The Charles Theatre

The Charles Theatre and the Charles City Arts Council are seeking the public’s help to preserve a community source of pride. 

A recent assessment identified nearly $250,000 in repairs needed for facility. Officials say the most urgent repairs must begin soon to address leaks and water infiltration that are actively damaging the structure.

The good news? Nearly $70,000 in grant funding has already been secured toward this project. Efforts continue to raise the remaining funds and they’re asking for your help.

Officials say, “The theatre has stood for generations as a place where our community gathers—to experience live performances, enjoy films, and share in something together.”

They add, “This cherished building reflects the heritage, character, and pride of Charles City. With your help, it will remain part of our community for generations to come.”
