ISU Agronomist Encouraged by Crop Progress, Invites Farmers to Spring Field Day Wednesday (06.24) in Floyd County

A field agronomist with Iowa State University Extension says he’s encouraged by the progress of this year’s crop at this point of the growing season.

Terry Basol is with the Borlaug Learning Center and Northeast Research Farm near Nashua.

Basol also notes most corn has grown to around knee high.

Caring for those crops is the focus during the Northeast Iowa Agricultural Association Spring Field Day set for 11 AM to 3 PM Wednesday (06.24) at the Research Farm. Seminars include Managing Crop Diseases in 2026; Nitrogen and Sulfur Management; and Maximizing Weed Control.

While geared towards farmers, Basol says gardeners could also benefit.

Basol says the Field Day is free, but RVSPs are encouraged by Monday (06.22) to get a head count, especially for the free lunch.
