Resurfacing of Iowa 24 in New Hampton to Finish This Week, Highway 18/218 in Charles City Underway

While one state road resurfacing project should wrap up this week in north Iowa, another road resurfacing just got started.

Pete Hjelmstad with the Iowa DOT’s Mason City District office says the final asphalt work was completed Monday (08.10) on the Iowa 24/East Main Street resurfacing in New Hampton. Crews have some work to do around the manholes as well as grooving in the paint markings, all targeted for completion by the end of the week, weather permitting.

In Charles City on Monday, the DOT began a project on Iowa 18/218/South Grand Avenue that Hjelmstad says is very similar to the Iowa 24 project.  The contractor milled the highway and is putting down new asphalt, which should be done by early next week with temporary paint lines.  

A different contractor will be in later to groove in the paint markings, though Hjelmstad says no date has been set on when that will happen.
