Final ‘Party in the Park’ Reset for This Friday (08.21) in Charles City

Hoping that the third try is the charm, Charles City’s last Party of the Park for this summer has been rescheduled for this Friday (08.21).

After two consecutive Fridays (Aug. 7 & 14) of weather issues forcing its postponement, Main Street Charles City takes another crack with the fourth and final PIP of 2026. Free inflatable rides are sponsored by St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church, with food available for a fee, but admission is free. There’s also a beer garden and live music from the band Retrospect with Jana West, all in Central Park from 5 to 9 PM. 

Community Development Director Mark Wicks says, “This is the last chance to get this event in before school starts on Monday. It was also the only date that worked to get our preferred band back. We know there are some other things going on that day in the area, but stop down even if for a little while to get something to eat and enjoy the music!”

PIP will also feature the Downtown Duck Dash Friday evening at 5:30 PM in which someone is going to win $1,000,  with plastic ducks racing down a water course on North Jackson Street. The top 20 finishers to win prizes. 

Ducks can be purchased for $5 per duck, $25 for a “Six Quack,” or $50 for a “Quaker’s Dozen (13 ducks).” Tickets are available in advance at the Main Street Charles City office at 401 North Main Street, or at Central Park on Friday between 4:45 and 5:15 PM.
