FCMC to Offer Telehealth Rheumatology Service, Adds Internal Medicine Provider

Floyd County Medical Center (FCMC) will make virtual rheumatology appointments available to patients starting September 14th.

FCMC will expand access to rheumatology care by partnering with Remission Medical through the FCMC outpatient specialty department, which will significantly reduce wait times and improve access to treatment for autoimmune and inflammatory conditions. The collaboration enables FCMC to address care gaps promptly, ensuring patients receive timely rheumatological care close to home.

FCMC Chief Operating Officer Jon Perin (MHA) says, “Through this partnership, we’re bringing much-needed rheumatology expertise directly to our patients and reducing one of the biggest barriers to specialty care in rural communities: access.”

Rheumatic diseases are autoimmune, inflammatory, and degenerative diseases that affect joints, muscles, bones, and organs. 

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), one in four adults have a rheumatic condition, especially arthritis.

In other recent developments, FCMC has added physician Kelsey Decker (DO), internal medicine provider, to its medical staff. She will serve patients on the third floor of the new rural health clinic beginning September 8th.
