A pedestrian was hit by a train Monday (08.31) night in Charles City.
The incident enacted a large emergency response in the area of the railroad tracks that run adjacent to Riverside Cemetery.
Charles City Police say the 911 call began shortly after 8:30 PM regarding a train and a pedestrian. The unidentified subject was rushed by AMR Ambulance to Floyd County Medical Center initially, before the victim was life-flighted to a nearby trauma center.
By 9:30 PM, most agencies had departed, but some personnel remained on sight. Railroad officials were also expected to be headed to the scene as part of the investigation
Railroad company spokesman Terry Cunha confirmed with KCHA/KCZE News the incident involving a CPKC train occurred at approximately 8:30 PM Monday. The train moved from the area late Monday night. This incident remains under investigation.
Also responding was the Floyd County Sheriff’s Office, Iowa State Patrol, Charles City Fire Rescue, Floyd County Search & Rescue.
