“Welcome to Medicare” Seminar Offered at Floyd County Medical Center

Floyd County Medical Center (FCMC) will present a “Welcome to Medicare” Seminar later this month.

FCMC says if you’re going to be eligible for Medicare in the near future, have been on Medicare for a while and want to better understand what it offers, or have a family member you help with Medicare issues, you’re encouraged to attend. SHIIP counselors can answer questions during the two-hour seminar from 6:30 – 8:30 PM Thursday, September 24th in the hospital’s Veteran’s Room.

“Welcome to Medicare” will cover Medicare Part A and Part B benefits, the prescription drug benefit (Part D), Medicare Advantage plans and Medicare supplement insurance. It also covers information about when and how to sign up for Medicare benefits.

FCMC SHIIP volunteer counselor Joan Lore notes, “Medicare is such an important program and understanding what it offers helps ensure that anyone eligible gets the health benefits they deserve.”

Attendees are asked to register by September 20 by calling 641-330-2247.

SHIIP, the Senior Health Insurance Information Program, is a service of the State of Iowa. SHIIP services are free, confidential, and unbiased. SHIIP counselors are trained by the state and do not sell or promote any insurance companies, policies or agents.

FCMC is a local sponsor for SHIIP in Floyd County.
