Thanks to recent rains, none of Floyd County is considered to be in extreme drought for the first time in several months, while only the southern third of Chickasaw County is rated in extreme drought.

Other noticeable areas of improvement in drought status include the majority of Winneshiek County, going from D2/severe drought to D1/moderate drought. The northeast half of Howard County and southwest half of Allamakee County also improved from severe to moderate drought. The northeast half of Allamakee County improved to the D0/abnormally dry category.

Much of the remainder of the region is rated in D2/severe drought.
