Charles City Day of Service on May 15th: Transforming Tragedy into Community Triumph
COMMUNITY CONVERSATIONS BROUGHT TO YOU BY FLOYD COUNTY MEDICAL CENTER:

In our latest Community Conversation, brought to you by Floyd County Medical Center, we sat down with Mark Wicks, Director of the Charles City Chamber of Commerce and Main Street Iowa, to discuss the upcoming Day of Service on May 15th. Marking the anniversary of the devastating 1968 tornado, this initiative, sparked by the Main Street Charles City board, invites everyone to give back through acts of service. From a downtown cleanup at Central Park (4:30-6:00 PM) to sprucing up neighborhoods, parks, or even helping a neighbor, the day is about choosing to make a difference. Wicks shared, “In 1968, we had no choice but to clean up. This year, we do it because we want to.” Businesses, families, and youth groups are all pitching in, with a free popcorn reward at Charles Theatre for participants. Join us to turn a somber anniversary into a celebration of community spirit!
Get involved! Join the downtown cleanup on May 15th at 4:30 PM at Central Park, or do your own act of service. Share your efforts on social media and tag Main Street Charles City. Contact the Chamber at (641) 228-4234 or visit charlescitychamber.com for more details.
