Harvest Proclamation Extended

Governor Kim Reynolds has extended Iowa’s harvest emergency proclamation through November 7, 2026, giving farmers extra flexibility to finish hauling this year’s crop.

This weight exemption allows trucks hauling key agricultural products—including corn, soybeans, hay, straw, silage, stover, fertilizer, and manure—to carry up to 90,000 pounds gross weight without needing a special permit.

Key details for haulers on the road:

  • Road Restrictions: Applies to state and local highways throughout Iowa, but strictly excludes the interstate highway system.
  • Axle Limits: Vehicles must stay within standard axle-weight limits, capped at a maximum of 20,000 pounds per axle.
  • Bridge Safety: Drivers must continue following all posted bridge and road weight restrictions.

With harvest in full swing, this extension gives Iowa producers and ag haulers a crucial buffer to move grain and field inputs efficiently before winter sets in.
