The Ionia Fire Department is getting ready to host its “Annual Firemen’s Fish Fry” tonight (07.15).
Proceeds from the fundraiser will go towards the department’s purchase of self containing breathing apparatus (SCBA). Mayor Randy Taylor says their current SCBA’s, also known as air packs, have reached their shelf life and need replacing. Each airpack costs about $6,500 and Ionia firefighters still need to purchase two more units to replace the old ones.
The Fish Fry will be drive-thru or carryout only at the fire station from 4 to 8 p.m. There will be picnic table seating on the east of the fire station. Cost is a $12 donation to the Ionia Fire Volunteer Department.
