The male driver is dead after he crashed his semi in northeast Iowa.
The Winneshiek County Sheriff’s Office says they received multiple 911 calls shortly after 5:30 pm Wednesday (08.16) about a semi that drove off a bridge over Goddard Creek southwest of Fort Atkinson on Highway 24. The rig overturned, caught on fire, and 33-year-old Kyle McNeil of Waterloo suffered fatal injuries in the wreck.
The Fort Atkinson Fire Department and Winneshiek County Emergency Management also responded to the crash. Officials and emergency personnel remained on the scene for several hours to remove the wreckage. Additional cleanup efforts will continue throughout the day Thursday.
The incident remains under investigation by the Winneshiek County Sheriff’s Office.
