A Charles City Halloween tradition returns Monday (10.28) evening with the 29th Spookwalk.
Organized by Main Street Charles City, this year’s event on the Riverfront Trail behind Charles City Public Library and First Baptist Church will welcome trick-or-treaters from 4:30 to 6:30 pm.
That’s the library’s Kamryn Kronschnabel, who says the course will also take candy-seekers under Brantingham Bridge with decorated treat stations by a record 33 businesses and non-profit groups available in Riverfront Park. She alerts parents that Spookwalk is well-attended.
This year’s Spookwalk theme, “It’s the Great Pumpkin Charles City,” is a spin on the famous Charlie Brown/Peanuts story.
It’s free for children 12 and younger, although free will donations will be accepted at the starting line. Children must be accompanied by an adult.
A special Early Bird Start of 4 pm Monday is also offered for youth with special needs or issues being in large crowds, but kids must be pre-registered. Any day-of walkups will go through with the general public.
First Baptist Church will be offering free hot dogs and hot chocolate near the main church entrance while supplies last.
In case of inclement weather, the rain date will be Tuesday, October 29. Monday’s weather forecast is partly sunny and breezy with a high of 75 and no rain.
