Charles City native Lilly Luft has added some more hardware to her trophy case.
Luft took the silver medal in women’s wrestling at 62 kg Friday (07.11) at the 2025 U20 Pan-American Games Championships in Lima, Peru, missing out on the gold by one point. Luft, a junior at the University of Iowa, punched her ticket to the title match with a semifinal pin over Diana Estarita Martinez of Colombia in 4:32. However, Luft fell in the finals, 2-1, to Annika Fines of Canada.
Two of Luft’s fellow Hawkeye teammates scored first-place finishes, with sophomore Cadence Diduch taking the gold at 65 kg and incoming freshman Bella Williams winning top honors at 59 kg. Both went undefeated on their way to gold medals.
