Linda Hoy, 79, of Charles City

Linda Hoy, 79, of Charles City, passed away Monday, February 16, 2026, at 11th Street Chautauqua Guest Home in Charles City.

A funeral service for Linda will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, February 21, 2026, at St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church in Charles City with Pastor Russ Leeper officiating. Burial will follow at Riverside Cemetery in Charles City.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Friday, February 20, 2026, at Hauser Weishaar Funeral Home in Charles City and continue one hour prior to the service on Saturday.

Linda Lee (Kellogg) Hoy, the daughter of Earl and Thelma (Gravunder) Kellogg, was born on April 8, 1946, in Battle Creek, Michigan. Linda was united in marriage to Terry Hoy on March 31, 1962, at First Methodist Church in Charles City.

Linda worked for Band Box Cleaners and was a cook for Comprehensive Systems and Hy-Vee. Linda was a faithful member of St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church. She enjoyed crafting and baking. Family was very important to Linda, and she loved and adored her grandchildren.

Living family members include her children: Bob Hoy, Tim Hoy, Sonja (Kevin) Marvin, and Cyndi (Scott) Huegli; grandchildren: Maggie Hoy, Alex (Ian) Vallebo, Jory Marvin, Becca (Tyson) Larrick, Benjamin Hoy, Brandon Huegli, and Brooke Huegli; great-grandchildren: Jessie Benson, Audrey Vallebo, Max Vallebo, and Bo Larrick; brothers, Bill and Duane Kellogg; mother-in-law, Charlotte Klaver; brother-in-law, Tim Stevens; and many nieces, nephews, and other family members.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Terry Hoy; and siblings: Karen Heuton, Brenda Stevens, Richard Kellogg, and James Kellogg.

Chris Berg

Chris was born in Webster City and raised in Charles City, which basically means he’s been corn‑fed and radio‑bred since day one. As a kid, he was always caught singing along to the radio — and while he’ll tell you he’s great at karaoke, let’s just say the audience’s ears often file a noise complaint. When he’s not busy butchering ‘80s power ballads, Chris enjoys starting overly ambitious home projects that rarely make it past the “great idea” stage. He lives in Charles City with his endlessly patient wife Vicki and their kids, Brynlee and Jaxon, who have already perfected the art of the eye‑roll every time Dad cracks another “dad joke.”
