North Iowa Road Report: Major Lansing Bridge Pour Ahead as Several Highway Projects Near Milestones

Iowa Department of Transportation’s Pete Hjelmstad joined Chris Berg and Kay Winkelman for the latest North Iowa Road Report, with updates on construction projects across the region.

Among the highlights (recorded Aug. 20), crews were preparing for a major concrete deck pour on the new Mississippi River bridge at Lansing, while resurfacing projects in Charles City and New Hampton are nearly complete. Hjelmstad also provided updates on Highway 9 in Decorah, the Waverly-Janesville project, Highway 122 construction near MercyOne in Mason City and I-35 near Sheffield.
With students heading back to school, Hjelmstad also reminds drivers to slow down, avoid distractions and use extra caution around schools and children.
