National 4-H Week 2026 Oct. 4-10 (Farm Not Required)

It’s National 4-H Week.

Floyd County Extension and Outreach Youth Coordinator Michelle Schubert says living on a farm is NOT a requirement for kids to join 4-H.

Schubert says 4-H activities also extend beyond the ag community.

Still, if your 4-Her wants to be involved with animals.

Schubert also notes there several 4-H clubs across Floyd County.

Schubert adds there are also several specialty clubs, including a shooting sports club for archery, rifle and shotgun with trained instructors; a cooking club, and Teen Council. There’s also a statewide virtual fishing club.

To learn more, contact your county ISU Extension and Outreach office.

According to 4-h.org, National 4-H Week brings together six million youth, 3,500 Extension educators, 500,000 volunteers, and 35 million alumni to celebrate the incredible impact of 4-H.

National 4-H Week 2026 is October 4–10! 🎉
This year’s theme is “Beyond Ready.” Iowa 4-H helps young people develop the skills, confidence and experiences to be ready for their future—and to go beyond ready by becoming leaders, problem-solvers, community members and lifelong learners.
Let’s celebrate Iowa 4-H together!
💚 Sunday – Beyond Ready
Talk with your 4-H member about what 4-H has helped them learn.
Ask: “How has 4-H helped you become Beyond Ready?”
Take a photo or share your member’s answer with your county 4-H program.
💚 Monday – Go Green Monday
Show your 4-H pride!
Wear green or a 4-H shirt, display your 4-H clover, and take a family photo. Share it on social media.
🌱 Tuesday – Growing Through 4-H
Celebrate something your 4-H member has learned.
Maybe it’s:
  • Caring for an animal
  • Giving a presentation
  • Cooking a new recipe
  • Learning about agriculture
  • Building something
  • Exploring STEM
  • Trying a new creative activity
  • Serving the community
  • Becoming a better leader
What has your 4-H member learned this year?
🤝 Wednesday – 4-H Makes a Difference
Do something positive for your community!
Complete a small service project, help a neighbor, pick up litter, or simply do something kind for someone else.
💚 Thursday – Thankful Thursday
Take a moment to say thank you to someone who makes your 4-H experience possible.
Thank a club leader, volunteer, parent, grandparent, Extension staff member, community supporter or local business.
Share a photo or thank-you message and help us recognize the people behind Iowa 4-H!
📣 Friday – Share Your 4-H Story
Tell someone what your family loves about 4-H.
Share a favorite memory, project, activity or experience. You might even encourage another family to check out 4-H!
🎉 Saturday – Celebrate!
Have fun together and celebrate being part of the Iowa 4-H family!
Take a family photo, enjoy a favorite 4-H activity or look back at some of your favorite 4-H memories.
🌟 Help Us Celebrate Iowa 4-H!
Share your National 4-H Week photos and stories on social media and tag Chickasaw County 4-H.
And remember—celebrating National 4-H Week doesn’t have to mean adding another activity to your busy schedule. Simply sharing your 4-H story, wearing green, thanking a volunteer or talking with your child about what they have learned is a great way to celebrate.
Thank you for being part of Iowa 4-H and for helping young people learn, lead, grow and go Beyond Ready!
Happy National 4-H Week!
